nraa logoDear NRAA Member:The Ebola virus is spreading across the globe, and poses a significant public health concern for healthcare professionals, including the dialysis community. It is imperative that as dialysis professionals we stay informed and prepare as acute renal failure requiring renal replacement therapy can occur in critically ill patients infected with Ebola virus. Promptly identifying those at risk for Ebola exposure and maintaining diligence in infection control policies are mandatory to provide a safe environment for our patients, ourselves, and the community at large. We have compiled important information and resources on www.nraa.org, such as:Dialysis-Related Information

    • ASN & CDC: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) Regarding Ebola Virus Disease and Dialysis
    • CDC: Recommendations for Safely Performing Acute Hemodialysis in Patients with Ebola Virus Disease in U.S. Hospitals
    • CDC: Approaches to Clinical Management for Patients with Ebola Treated in U.S. Hospitals (October 20, 2014)

    General Information

    • CDC: Checklist for Patients Being Evaluated for Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in the United States
    • CDC:Infection Prevention and Control Recommendations for Hospitalized Patients with Known or Suspected Ebola Virus Disease in U.S. Hospitals
    • CDC:Tightened Guidance for U.S. Healthcare Workers on Personal Protective Equipment for Ebola

Additional information and resources are available on www.nraa.org.

In the coming days, the Kidney Community Emergency Response Coalition (KCER) will convene in regards to the Ebola virus, and NRAA will continue to have a representative at this critical coalition and its upcoming discussions. We will inform the membership of any new initiatives as we work with our counterparts.

NRAA is committed to providing resources to our membership and will be available should you have any additional questions. Emails can be sent to nraa@nraa.org.
